Home Up Worship News Prayer Meetings From the Pastor Who Are We? Building Progress Connecting Feedback

October 19, 2006

Not everyone knows this, but behind the scenes there is a group of intercessors who are praying for various issues of our church. They are not part of our fellowship, but men and women I have known to have a serious prayer life and a real interest in what is happening here.  Each Wednesday, I email them a specific prayer request, and for the next seven days they set aside time to pray over it.  It is part of the Kingdom Business.

It is a strange way in which things work in this Kingdom business.  So often we can loose sight of the ethereal elements of spirit as we wrestle through the earthly aspects of making things work. Our Harvest Fest/Animal Blessing/Ground Breaking last weekend emerged from ideas emanating from the prayer life of our prayer tours (check it out here) and the prayers of my intercessor team.   During the prayer tours we circulated around the mission field and gradually ideas began to emerge.  Soon one thought gelled with another and within six weeks we pulled off a pretty good event; one where over half the people there were not part of our church.

There was a lot of human work that went into it.  As such, it is easy to pat ourselves on the back.  But if you were part of the prayer work that led up to this (if you have not been, but would like to be, click here) you know where credit is due: Christ Jesus.  I really feel this was spirit lead, not ego driven, and as such we made some good initiatives.

We all realize that we don't have all the pieces in place of the great church we are destined to become, but I am ever confident that if we keep our prayer life moving, gradually God will plant some ideas, bring together the resources, and see ministry develop.

What's next?  It has already been suggested from two of our launch team to host a grand mission dinner to benefit regional social assistance efforts.  Check back often.  We'll be posting information on the Idea Bank.  In the meantime, help keep the mission moving and the church connecting: keep praying.  It's about God, so keep God central.  There is no other way.
