We're on a roll, or better yet, God's rolling along and we're moving with Him. It is great to see mission efforts emerging from the hearts participants. It is wonderful to be part of a group that prayers every week for the church and for those for whom there has not yet been found a church . It is exciting to see the ministry center moving along at The Meadow. It is a challenge ahead of us. When moving into a new building, it is easy to loose our passion for "dirty-sandals" ministry in the trenches and become enamored with the excitement of a building. Don't let it happen! There are too many churches who ministry has become defined by building worship. This is the last thing we need. Keep in mind that Jesus NEVER built a building (even though he was a carpenter), and the one building that was constructed was not built by Jesus, but by Peter at the Transfiguration as a feeble attempt to captivate the experience of seeing the radiance of God. Maybe that is all our buildings can be, a place to embrace the other-worldliness of the eternal presence in temporal bricks and mortar. Jesus invitation was to "feed His sheep," "proclaim this the acceptable year of the Lord," "Go unto all the world teaching and baptizing." If the building facilitates that initiation, then we will have a great church, one defined by mission and ministry, not by bricks and mortar. It's a great time in the life of this community. Stay involved. Keep praying. Together, your life will change and the world will as well.
