September 7, 2006 Greetings: New life always abounds, but so often it is cloaked in the colors of the daily garb that we cannot see what is transpiring around us. It is something like autumn when the leaves shift from fertile greens, through the vibrant oranges and red, to the dry browns that announce winter is not far off. Still, latent in the trees, as in our hearts, is the spirit to burst forth again with new life. Sometimes, like the days of autumn and winter, we can only hold on to the hope of the spring yet to come; and yet, the promise is still there. If you heart is heavy and feeling something of a "winter" desolation coming on, it is possible to reach inside and remember the vibrancy of spring. It is Jesus, the one entity to fully keep his feet in both humanity and eternity, who welcomes to experience this promise no matter what circumstances we face. Take a little time of solitude and prayer. Pause from the daily grind. Find some time to let the spirit rest in the promise of Jesus the Lord. If you need some help, I have found reciting the Lord's Prayer is a good way to calm the chatter of the mind and let the heart find its center. In Peace, John Mark |
