Progress Report on Stabilization and Growth, July, 2010

The Session elders and deacons met on July 26, 2010, to evaluate our next step in meeting our three-point stabilization effort.

  1. We must tithe.
  2. We must made adaptations in the staff.
  3. We must follow member-driven ministry.

Our striving for the tithe has plateau at 2.9%.  This simply means we are keeping 70.1% of what is God's for ourselves.  We can certainly do better.  Let's keep reviewing our personal finances and see where we are not being good stewards, or using resources in ways that really are not terribly advantageous.  Over then next twelve weeks, let all of us put our financial housing in order and see what God can do.

There are two staff adaptations that will be considered.  Both are driven by our member-driven ministries.  They relate to developing the ministries emerging among us, specifically the Sunday School and our worship growth.  It is too early to really know exactly how or what will shift.  All we can perceive at this time is the need is there to adapt our staffing to support the ministries.

Finally, and  most exciting, is the member-driven expansion of worship from one homogeneous worship service to two diverse worship opportunities.  Come September 12, 2010, we will offer two worship serviced.  One in the traditionally familiar form, and a second based on a more contemporary, free flowing dynamic.  A launch team is being assembled.  Schedules are being consulted.  Rehearsals continue on Tuesday at 7:00.  As the details are solidified, they will be presented on the website, on facebook and in the Sunday bulletin.

These are exciting times.  Much is changing to meet new and emerging needs in our community. Our faithful commitments and dedicated efforts will continue to carry us to new heights.

 Blessings to All,

Your elders and deacons!
